About Sanwa X Tennis Academy Singapore – Est. 2004

Sanwa X Tennis Academy is one of Singapore’s most established and respected tennis academies, founded in 2004 and led by world-class coaches including former ATP World No. 36 Yuichi Sugita. Over two decades, we have developed tennis players of all ages and abilities in Singapore — from complete beginners to national-level competitors.

Coach XT (Xu Teng) – Academy Owner

Xu Teng is the founder of TAG International Tennis Academy — widely acknowledged as a leading tennis academy in Singapore — and owner of Sanwa X Tennis Academy. He pioneered Singapore’s first indoor tennis facility, Winchester Tennis Arena, which remains a pillar of the Singapore tennis scene today. In addition, he manages two premium tennis courts at TAG@One North and a pickleball court at PickleChoo Arena. Xu Teng’s contribution to Singapore’s tennis development earned international recognition in 2017. The WTA invited him as a keynote speaker at the prestigious WTA Coaches Conference during the WTA Finals — one of the highest honours in international tennis coaching.

Coach Wataru Ochi – Head Coach & Founder

Coach Wataru Ochi founded Sanwa X Tennis Academy in Singapore in 2004 after an illustrious coaching career in Japan. His career highlights are remarkable. He coached Ai Sugiyama to the French Open doubles final in 2007. Furthermore, he guided Soeda Go to the ATP top 100 in 2011, with French Open main draw appearances through 2013. He also accompanied Kimiko Date on the WTA circuit in 2017 and supported players at the 2012 London Olympics. Coach Ochi’s commitment to developing the next generation of tennis players in Singapore is the founding ethos of the academy — an ethos that continues to define every aspect of our coaching today.
